Partners

The work of Re/Member Black Philadelphia would not be possible without the collaboration of community and institutional partners, who we partner with to develop projects, build skills and resources, and support community efforts.

Collaborators

Mike Africa, Jr. (The MOVE Organization)

The mission of the MOVE Organization is rooted in the interdependence of all life forms and the ultimate aim of liberation from racist and capitalist systems. Mike Africa. Jr. is a second generation member of The MOVE Organization and keeper of the organization’s historical memory. He is Archive Director of The MOVE Activist Archive and co-curator (with RBP Project Director Krystal Strong) of the Black Resistance Tour of Philadelphia.

Penn Libraries

The Penn Libraries Research Data & Digital Scholarship team facilitates data-driven and data-literate research and scholarship across the disciplines and fosters informed and ethical data communities at Penn.

West Philadelphia Cultural Alliance

WPCA was established in 1984 to “stimulate community participation in the arts.” Through the Paul Robeson House and Museum, WPCA brings together people and organizations with diverse backgrounds in order to help them find common ground for their mutual benefit from cultural and political change. WPCA is a partner for The MOVE Activist Archive.

Free Library of Philadelphia

The Free Library of Philadelphia is the generous host of RBP community digitization workshops where we facilitate public dialogue and engagement around the preservation of individual and collective memory and history in areas undergoing redevelopment, gentrification, and mass displacement.

West Philadelphia High School Alumni Association

WPHS Alumni Association supports current students by leveraging diverse networks and ensuring accountability from the school district and administrators. The Alumni Associate hosts the annual WestFest class reunion and works to preserve the institutional memory of West Philly High.
